The UP College of Fine Arts provides its students with knowledge and discipline to excel in different fields of the arts. Different opportunities await the students in their years in the college and beyond. It just keeps getting better. Engaging activities within and outside of the classroom are learning experiences that develop the students’ character. There is much to learn especially with the hyflex blended mode of teaching and learning being implemented at the start of 2nd Sem AY 2022-2023. We stand together and raise each other up, with honor and excellence.

Exhibits are a staple at the UP CFA. Students and faculty alike hold exhibits in the different galleries of the UP Fine Arts Gallery and beyond the four corners of the college. These may range from class exhibits, batch exhibits, and student initiated exhibits. The college offers its galleries for different exhibits and events throughout the year. There is the Annual Students’ Exhibit which features works of up and coming young artists with works varying from paintings, ceramics, sculptures, installations, etc. Industrial Design Diliman (iD!D) is the annual exhibit of the Industrial Design students. Print Fest highlights printed works of Visual Communication students.

Lectures, seminars,  workshops and conferences in art and design are ever-present and speakers who are invited are local and international experts in the industry.

Student organizations led by the CFA Student Council also initiate different engagements for their fellow students. A vibrant and inspiring atmosphere becomes conducive for students’ creative expression and exchange.

Screenings of film, animation, moving image works are also hosted by the college. The second year Visual Communication students have “Fade Out,” a year-ender activity where students’ moving image works are presented and projected works are installed all around the college for a night. Third year classes in the Visual Communication program have their annual “Short Cut” to show works of students. There are also outdoor and indoor screenings of noteworthy Filipino films.

The Ceramics Studio has its regular workshops and festivals that involve linkages with international and local potters. Students await the programs and festivities such as the Paglulual, offered by the Ceramics studio especially during the February Arts Month which coincides with the Fine Arts Month.

The UP FABLAB extends its service to the students and UP community with an array of services and equipment.

Several activities are also slated every year during the UP Diliman Arts and Culture Festival of which the College of FIne Arts  students, faculty, and staff actively takes part of. The end of the year is always fully energized as the college prepares for the annual Lantern Parade, which has been a tradition shared with the entire UP community. In light of the difficulties and challenges during the pandemic in 2020 and the storms that occurred, the college opted to dedicate time for the UP CFA community to  rebuild and re-energize, giving the Lantern Parade a momentary rest. It resumed again in December 2022.

The academic year culminates with the Tanglaw ng Sining Candlelight Ceremonies which is the college recognition program celebrated alongside the University Commencement Program.
